Why God?

Life is messy. A simple statement filled with a tremendous about of implications. Does it mean life is filled with hard choices? Does a messy life mean you are in pain? Is it physical pain or emotional pain? What do we exactly mean when we say life is messy?

Truth. All of the above. Life is filled with hard choices. Which job to take, how will it effect my family, which college to go too — on and on? Life is filled with physical pain, just hit the age of about 50 years old, pain becomes a part of your daily life. And even a child would tell you life is filled with emotional pain. The day you realize life isn’t “fair” is the day you except emotional pain is part of everyone’s life.

So, the real question isn’t how is life messy — no — it’s how can we find happiness and joy in this messy life?

My teenage son, came home after a hard day at school, having a teacher say something really negative to him, and asked me why God couldn’t take all of the world’s pain away? This tall, slender, curly blond hair, blue eyed boy, sitting on the kitchen cabinet as I cooked dinner was asking a question, if I was completely honest, I too had asked God a few times in my life.

I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around him and said “because He would also have to take away love. And I don’t know about you son, but loving you has been one of the greatest gifts in my life.”

Yes, life is messy. But it’s also filled with joy, kindness, happiness, and love. Often times these are not as noticeable as they are until they appear in the mist of the mess. Want to see real kindness, let a natural disaster happen and people will show up to express kindness like never before. Want to see love, watch families lose a love one and everyone is hugging and expressing their love.

If it wasn’t for the messes in life, we would be blinded to the joys of life.

Messy Life Ministry is here to encourage and love people in the mist of this messy life. We want to talk with you, challenge you, and share with you in both the joys and the messes of life.
