Fighting Human Trafficking and Exploitation

Personal note: After watching the movie Sound Of Freedom (if you have not seen it - GO!) my heart was at a stand still. My first reaction was, this is so huge, how can I do anything about it? My second reaction was, trafficking humans is one of the most raw forms of evil that we can witness and allow to happen. It is hard to warp my brain that kind of evil. Yet, it is out there…it may even be in our own neighbourhood. Often we say “all I can do is pray about it",” as through that is a “less-than” thing…as though it was God’s way of giving us some kind of busy-work. He did not! Prayer, is not a last result. Prayer is not busy-work. Prayer is not “all I can do.” No. Prayer is power. It is the kind of power that moves mountains and heaven. Prayer is one of the greatest weapons we have. And if no one in this world deserves prayer, it is our children…although I believe everyone “deserves” prayer. So please pray for these lives everyday, not just now and then. -Chandee

In a world tainted by the darkness of sin, one of the most heinous crimes committed against humanity is human trafficking. It is modern-day slavery that knows no borders, affecting millions of innocent lives and generating a staggering $150 billion annually. Today, we shed light on the urgent and compassionate efforts being made to rescue and protect victims of trafficking and exploitation.

One remarkable individual leading the charge is American missionary Sam Childers, known as the Machine Gun Preacher. For over 25 years, he has dedicated his life to rescuing children from traffickers in East Africa, particularly in areas of conflict where rebel leaders and groups perpetrate these crimes. However, it's not just an African issue; the United States ranks as one of the worst countries for child trafficking, with thousands of victims, including both foreign nationals and U.S. citizens.

Despite the gravity of the situation, hope still shines through the efforts of organizations like World Vision and others working tirelessly to combat human trafficking. They provide safe havens, counseling, vocational training, and support to survivors, aiming to break the chains of exploitation and restore dignity to these wounded souls.

As people of faith, we are called to stand against the darkness and pray fervently for an end to human trafficking. Let us pray that governments worldwide step in and take more proactive measures to protect those vulnerable to exploitation. May the elite involved in these heinous crimes have their actions exposed and be held accountable for their atrocities. We also pray for the protection of children and young people from all forms of harm and evil, that they may grow up in a world where love and justice prevail.

In Genesis 3, we witnessed the fall of humanity into sin, disrupting the shalom that God intended for His creation. But through the gospel of Christ, there is hope for redemption, renewal, and healing. Let us join hands in prayer and action to eradicate human trafficking and bring back God's shalom to this broken world.
